May is going to be a big month for the mobile phone industry. Phone launches that were set for April got postponed due to the extension of lockdown. So, May will witness the launch of those phones as well as the ones launching in May. Now that smartphone companies could not launch their phones on their due dates, they have decided not to reveal the launch dates of any of the upcoming phones until there’s some certainty in the situation.
Vivo V19 Pro – Vivo is a popular brand in India, especially with its V series. Vivo V19 is an all-rounder which comes with a 6.44 inch display with a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. It is powered by Snapdragon 712 processor and has 8 GB RAM. This phone packs a 48 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP quad rear camera setup and a 32 MP front camera. Vivo V19 is one of the phones that were launching in April.
OnePlus Z / OnePlus 8 Lite – OnePlus launched its flagship, OnePlus 8 Pro in April. The lighter version of that phone, OnePlus Z or OnePlus 8 Lite will launch this month. Not much is known about the phone, but some leaks suggest that it will come with the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 SoC with 5G support. This mid-range handset will compete with phones like Oppo Reno3 Pro and Realme X2 Pro.
Moto Edge + – Motorola has been producing phones which did not compete well with the other phones in the market for years. Now, with Moto Edge Plus, the company will launch its first flagship in years. The name comes from the 6.7 inch screen which curves 90 degrees down the edges. It has 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. As far as cameras are concerned, there’s a 25 MP hole-punch front camera on the top of the screen and a 108 MP + 16 MP + 8 MP triple rare camera setup. It has the fastest Qualcomm snapdragon 865 Processor and will come with 5G support. Motorola Edge Plus may not come out as a champion but will surely be a contender.
Other companies that are launching phones in India this month include the one with the largest market share, Realme. Realme X3 is expected to launch on 8th May 2020.
