  • India misses the 100-day 5G spectrum trial deadline. The fifth generation, 5G technology is still far from becoming a part of our everyday lives. Even after tall claims by the government, its 100-day plan has now lapsed and 5G spectrum allocation hasn’t even started for the trials. Moreover, Chinese tech giant, Huawei’s participation in 5G field trials in India is still under scrutiny because of the on-going US-China trade war.
  • Corporate tax cut to attract more investors after Apple: FM With almost a 10% slack in the corporate tax rate, India has become a preferred investment destination with rates lower than that of China and Southeast Asian countries. This step is taken amidst slowdown in economic growth. According to FM Nirmala Sitharaman, Apple’s move to set up its manufacturing unit in India will motivate investors around the world to follow its steps.
  • Qualcomm may unveil flagship 865 chipset on Sept 24. Qualcomm is likely to launch the successor of its Snapdragon 855+ chipset, 865 on 24 th Sept. Its manufacturing partner will be Samsung and mass production may commence from February 2020.
  • Samsung takes a dig at Huawei for not having Google apps. With introduction of Mate 30 series by Huawei, company’s biggest competitor, Samsung did not leave the chance to gloat about its flagship, Note 10 to have all google apps. Samsung sent out a promotional mail for Note 10 which read, “Enjoy updates, apps and Google services” with icons of Maps, Google drive, Google play, Google photos etc. Due to US-China trade war, American companies, including Google were forced to press pause in their relationship with Huawei.
