OnePlus Nord and OnePlus 8 – One company, Two approaches.

OnePlus Nord vs OnePlus 8

It is not a secret that the company, OnePlus has always been committed to producing flagship-level smartphones and has kept its focus on selling one phone at a time. We do not see the same case with other companies in the business. OnePlus did launch a budget phone, OnePlus X five years ago, but then did not go deep in that segment of the market until now.

OnePlus Nord is not necessarily a successor to OnePlus X, but being priced at Rs 24,999, it definitely belongs to the same segment. The look and feel of this budget phone are the same as that of OnePlus 8 series phones. As it is a more affordable phone than OnePlus 8, the company has taken a step down in the processor. It gets Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor while the flagship OnePlus 8 had Snapdragon 865G chipset. Apart from this and some other differences in cameras, a lot of specs of these two phones, which are targeted to different market segments, are same. Both the phones have 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. With a beautiful design, great performance, four amazing rear cameras and two front cameras with Megapixel even higher than OnePlus 8, this is the classiest a company can get with a phone for its budget segment.

Producing a phone, which in so many ways resembles a phone from high-end segment and placing it in a budget segment, is the kind of strategy a company adopts to make its presence felt all over the market. OnePlus is the market leader in the premium segment but now with OnePlus Nord, it is keen on capturing the more popular mid-range segment of the Indian market.
